Took the daughter to PFT's 10th anniversary show for part of her birthday celebration last Saturday.  PFT does a monthly comedy/music variety show at Largo.  No guests were announced ahead of time, so it was a pleasant surprise to see Grant there.  He was in desperate need of a hair cut, but otherwise looked good, lol.

Grant did a very pretty duet with Aimee Mann (a new song of hers), and one of his new songs (I think) with Aimee backing him. It was a quiet ballad sort of song.  I didn't catch the name, but it was pretty.  Aimee and Grant sounded really nice together.   Later Aimee, Grant, Dave Gruber Allen, and Paul did "Pulling Mussels from the Shell", and odd song but fun.  Everyone sang "Danny's Song" together at the end.  Grant kind of hid in the back as usual. It was a fun show.  My face always gets tired at these shows from laughing and smiling so much.

Chatted with Grant afterwards. He seemed excited about his upcoming California shows and said he had a lot of new songs to share.  Looking forward to seeing a few of those shows soon.  :)

Glad you had a fabulous time mate. Tim Minchin's playin' Largo soon if you fancy a nice socio-political musical left-wing laugh!
Grant-Lee Phillips shows: 8 since 2002 and counting!
Grant Lee Buffalo shows: May 17 (Dublin) and May 18 (London) 2011.

Yea, thanks Randall.  I saw Tim on the schedule, but it's on a work night.  The earlier show is sold out already.  Maybe next time!

I know, I'm anxious to hear more.  Debating going to his show in San Diego - it's the first California show, but a 3-hour high-traffic drive.  I have to wait a few more weeks to see him near me.   He changed his mind on doing a show at my local club that would have been in early April (some "mix up" he said).  I'll have to decide pretty soon.   :)
